Summer Works Staff (Health Information Management)

Overview

The Summer Works Staff will work in various departments in the Institute contributing to business operations in a courteous, professional, and responsible manner. Responsibilities may include administrative support, facilities support, research support, educational support, and/or patient care aide dependent on the department in which the individual is working.

Responsibilities

  • Follows accurate document preparation procedures, ensuring all documents belong to the correct patient and identifying documents that do not require scanning.
  • Scans medical records, loose material, raw data, etc., for inclusion in the electronic health record according to established quality assurance procedures and guidelines. Monitors the imaging system for scanning errors and verifies that documents are correct and legible once scanned.
  • Indexes medical records, loose material, raw data, etc., for inclusion in the electronic health record according to established quality assurance procedures and guidelines.
  • Supports quality assurance by auditing scanned batches to verify documents belong to the correct patient, ensure clarity of image, and that the correct Doc Types were assigned.
  • Assists with maintenance of scanning equipment to ensure clarity of images and scans documents according to procedures.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION:

    • Individual must be currently enrolled in a high school education program or equivalent at the junior or senior level or a current undergraduate student. 

     

    Qualifying candidates are students in high school (16 years or older before their start date AND going into 11th or 12th grade) or college students (undergraduate only and cannot be graduating Spring or Summer 2025).
