Summer Works Staff (ICSCI: Lifeguard)

Overview

The Lifeguard is responsible for the safety and supervision of the pool area during swim programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision of pool area ensuring the safety of all pool participants. Maintain safe and clean environment for aquatic activities
  • Test pool chemical levels and maintain daily records of readings as noted in the KKI Aquatics Policies and Procedures
  • Oversee pool security by controlling access of clients/staff during program hours.
  • Assist in the supervision of locker rooms and transitional areas. Assist clients and staff entering/exiting pool and pool areas.
  • Set up, maintain and clean patient treatment areas. Ensure patient and staff safety, hygiene, privacy and observe patient specific and standard precautions.
  • Inventory, secure, clean, and maintain all instructional equipment
  • Notify Aquatics Manager or Facilities of any conditions relating to the pool that may require attention.
  • Assist the Aquatics Manager with required orientation for all KKI staff assisting clients in the water.
  • Perform non patient care duties, including conducting program tours, greeting/transporting patients. Demonstrate technical proficiency in pool chemistry and operation.
  • Demonstrate ability to safely transfer clients, including use of Guldman Lift.
  • Qualifications

    • Must hold valid and current credentials as a Lifeguard, as well as in first aid and CPR.
    •  Individual must also maintain current credentials as a Pool Operator.  Individual must demonstrate the ability to perform duties of lifeguard as they relate to the needs of clients with severe disabilities.
    • *Individual must demonstrate competence across all age groups due to the diversity of the children and families served by KKI.
    • *Clinical care focus is on the neonate, pediatric, and adolescent populations, as well as some adults with disabilities.

    EDUCATION:

     

    • High School Diploma or GED required

    EXPERIENCE:

    • 1 year prior experience as a lifeguard in therapeutic settings preferred
