Mechanical Engineer I

Position Description

At a Glance

 

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer I to join the Lighting Sector Finelite Team in Union City, CA. An integral part of our team, you will support the engineering group in developing new solutions for next-generation light fixtures, as well as sustain the current product lines. You will also play an integral role in providing technical support as products are introduced to production.

 

What Will You Do?

 

Support VAVE Projects:

  • Take complete responsibility for multiple VAVE projects from design through production, coordinating with various departments to ensure parts are designed for manufacture and easy assembly by production in a timely manner.
  • Provide engineering sales support, project management, and CAD modeling, BOM configuration, and follow document control procedures.
  • Work closely with sales, production, and quality to ensure manufacturability and reliability of components.
  • Act as liaison between engineering and production during production builds to answer questions and support custom builds on the floor.

Sustain current product lines:

  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with compliance requirements.
  • Work closely with design engineering, quality control and manufacturing to continuously improve designs for performance, efficiency, economy, and reliability.
  • Work closely with document control to properly execute ECR/ECOs.
  • Study and recommend techniques to improve existing products/processes.

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3 years of manufacturing experience in a product design or manufacturing environment, lighting industry preferred.
  • Ability to work/ co-ordinate with a global team in different time zones.
  • Excellent communication skills and be able to communicate at all levels.
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks, SolidWorks simulation, MS Office
  • Experience with sheet metal design, injection molded plastics, extruded plastics a plus
  • Hands on Shop tool and Fabrication Skills desired for building mockup.
  • Knowledge and experience using 3D Printers and CNC is a plus.
  • Familiarity with UL and ETL requirements for lighting systems a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and think creatively with minimal direction in a dynamic environment.
  • A goal-oriented personality driven to execute projects to closure.
  • Excellent PC skills
  • Excellent Organization and Administrative skills
  • This position requires occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. of weight.
  • Include Work samples or portfolio of past projects or parts designed in Solid Works

Pay: $95,000-$105,000
