Job Summary
The Hearing Test Technician is responsible for performing newborn screening hearing exams on all newborns prior to discharge. The technician is responsible for monitoring the daily census, performing screenings prior to discharge, documenting results, discussing results with parents, and entering charges into the billing system. The technician will report to the Hearing Screening Coordinator and Division Administrator.

Previous experience conducting hearing screenings or working in a healthcare setting 0-1 year preferred
The technician needs to be able to:
- Review daily census and prioritize the schedule to insure all patients are screened prior to discharge.
- Use the screening equipment and recognize if there is a problem prior to completing the examination.
- Handle newborns to insure their comfort, safety and readiness to test.
- Document results in the medical record.
- Communicate effectively with parents, family members and the medical/nursing staff to relay screening results and answer questions
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with audiology equipment and testing procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients of diverse backgrounds and age groups.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately record and document information.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating professionalism and collaboration.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to audiology and hearing disorders.
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and privacy regulations.
