Senior Fullstack, Backend Leaning Software Engineer

Next Matter is disrupting how Operations are built and run, and in the process, is shaping how people and companies work in a range of industries around the world.

We’re looking for an experienced, passionate software engineer to join our team working cross-functionally with other departments, collaborating with talented peers, and continuing to ship quality code that delights our customers. This engineer will work on user-facing features and bug fixes while making backend architectural decisions and paying down tech debt as a part of the backend tribe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with product, design, and frontend teams to design and execute new and existing features writing robust, scalable, and easily maintainable code

  • In collaboration with others, define, scope, and estimate work

  • Produce and discuss technical improvements to the codebase demonstrating business need and impact

  • Write, test, ship, and document code while caring about usability, performance, compliance, and security

  • Triage, debug, and fix user-reported bugs

  • Participate in code reviews, as well as design and implementation conversations

  • Work collaboratively with the rest of the Engineering team to proactively identify and solve blockers / bottlenecks.

Must-Have Requirements

  • A collaborative mindset and strong sense of ownership, as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintaining a focus on impactful outcomes aligned with business objectives.

  • Extensive expertise in developing scalable services and APIs with Python, Django and Django Rest Framework.

  • Strong working knowledge of SQL.

  • Experience with unit and end-to-end testing frameworks and tools

  • Exposure to and some experience with developing user interfaces with React, or similar modern web framework

  • Experience working effectively in diverse, remote teams.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document and communicate technical and non-technical concepts clearly.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Experience with GitLab

  • Experience with PostgreSQL

  • Experience with ElasticSearch, Celery and Redis

  • Experience working with an internationally distributed team
