Plant EHS Manager

Overview

The EHS Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager at the facility and be responsible for providing focus, definition, and technical expertise for the development of a proactive Environmental, Health, and Safety plan that is consistent with Pactiv Evergreen’s (PTVE) corporate policies, vision, and values; and is in compliance with local, state, and federal EHS regulations.

Responsibilities

 

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead the EHS and PSM functions for the location.
  • Drive the development and implementation of EHS policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Maintain updated OSHA and EPA required written programs and develop/conduct training as necessary.
  • Oversee the reporting and investigations of any EHS related incident.
  • Facilitate and oversee the necessary environmental, health and safety training to support and enhance the organization’s EHS culture.
  • Develop and deploy policies, procedures, programs to support best-practice and identify best-practices with the PTVE system.
  • Provide communication and training to plant management, establish and maintain communications, reporting, assessments, training programs, and guidance.
  • Work with the Corporate EHS departments and provide prioritized direction and technical expertise to the engineering organizations or contractors in implementing EHS projects.
  • Be capable of sharing best practices to assist in driving change across the multiple locations.
  • Have a relentless pursuit for injury prevention, EHS compliance, and overall risk reduction.
  • Be capable of facilitating and sponsoring employee led teams that solve problems and lead the location(s) to a Zero Harm Culture.
  • Be capable of aligning the local team and influencing others to achieve the desired EHS performance objectives outlined by corporate initiatives, business unit initiatives, and local/site initiatives.
  • Review and analyze data to determine the next opportunity to improve EHS performance.
  • Bring experience with innovative EHS compliance and risk reduction techniques via employee engagement, behavior based safety programs, risk assessments, and understanding of implementing, managing, and sustaining EHS programs in a manufacturing environment

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • BA/BS degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Engineering or technical discipline or related field preferred.

Experience

  • 5+ years of progressive and related professional EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • 1+ year of experience in a facility covered by Process Safety Management (PSM)/RMP standards with some direct involvement with the PSM program.
  • 1+ year of experience managing a location under a Title V Air Permit or similar air permit.

  • Strong analytical skills as well as organizational skills.
  • Solid project management capabilities with the ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously from origin through execution.
  • Well-developed leadership and motivational skills with proven ability to influence and motivate others to quickly achieve results.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule during key business deadlines.
  • Ability to travel (5% - 10%).
  • Must be team oriented with the ability to work on high collaboration and performance teams.

Located 35 south west of Chicago, Frankfort is a village in Will County, Illinois, with a small portion in Cook County. The population was 17,782 at the 2010 census, up from 10,391 in 2000. The plant was built in 1965, manufactures food service and food packaging products (custom and stock foam), and has approximately 300 employees.

At Pactiv Evergreen, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $95,000 - $158,400.
