Overview of the Role:
Receive and respond to billing and insurance questions.
Essential Job Duties:
Data Entry; patient demographics, daily charges, surgery and delivery charges, post insurance payments.
File insurance claims.
Appeal problem claims.
Generate and send patient bills.
Communicate and follow-up with AB collections.
Generate and review monthly A/R reports.
Update patient demographics changes in the system.
Balance daily co-pays.
Generate deposits – fax co-pay to Privia Medical Group - Gulf Coast
Insurance precertification of surgeries.
Notify the patient and office manager of a pre-surgery deposit due.
Communicate with Insurance companies; deliveries or extended surgical stays.
Function as a float receptionist.
Assist with filing.
Other duties as assigned.
3+ years of comprehensive experience in a medical/physician office environment.
3+ years of medical collections experience.
3+ years working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding standards.
OB/GYN billing experience (Preferred)
Athena EMR experience (Preferred)
Education/Certificate/License
High School Graduate or GED
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Professional Biller (CPB) Certifications
The ongoing compensation for this vacancy is $24 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Physical Demands
Work may require sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies; occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds; requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, operate a telephone, copier and such other office equipment as necessary; vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts; it is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods and to work in an environment which is very stressful.

As a Billing & Coding Specialist at Privia Infusion Center in Houston, TX, your role is key to ensuring smooth operations and financial accuracy within our physician-led medical group. With a focus on patient care, you will handle essential billing tasks like data entry, filing insurance claims, and managing patient accounts. You'll receive and respond to billing and insurance inquiries, generating and sending patient bills while also working on appeal problem claims. Your responsibilities will include balancing daily co-pays, generating deposits, and communicating with insurance companies regarding surgery precertifications and patient bills. In addition, as part of our collaborative team, you may function as a float receptionist and assist with other administrative duties as needed. To thrive in this position, you'll need at least 3 years of experience in a medical office environment, a strong understanding of CPT and ICD-10 coding standards, and skills in medical collections. While we value OB/GYN billing experience, it isn't a strict requirement. If you're familiar with Athena EMR, that would be a plus.
