Project Manager - Sourcing & Product Development

We are seeking a Project Manager to lead our sourcing initiatives on various categories including primary packaging, secondary packaging, and off-the-shelf. We are looking for a candidate who is obsessed with product, brand, and packaging, and always has the end-customer experience in mind. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and strategic problem solver who can manage vendor negotiations, streamline operations, and collaborate with internal teams to bring high-quality products to market efficiently. This role will ensure that our supply base is capable of supporting business growth while delivering on service, quality, and cost objectives. 

This passionate individual will report directly to the Head of Operations & New Product Development and work closely with the Supply Chain/Operations, Brand, Creative, and R&D team. They will be responsible for planning and tracking progress through the entire lifecycle of a product launch, from concept to delivery, on time. 

Location: Fully-Remote (Work from Home), 9 AM - 5 PM EST

Responsibilities: 

Project & Operations Management 

  • Lead the development of project plans, timelines, budgets, deliverables and resource plans in collaboration with cross-functional teams ensuring smooth execution from concept to commercialization 

  • Provides strategic direction and leadership for the company’s multiple product development calendars 

  • Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Brand Marketing and Supply Chain leadership to ensure all deliverables are met, facilitating timely delivery of merchandise 

  • Lead the execution of new product launches, supplier transitions, and process improvements 

  • Implement project management best practices to foster continuous improvement and efficiency within the teams 

  • Communicate product development status, outstanding issues and risks to senior management and stakeholders

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Identify and implement cost-saving strategies without compromising quality

  • Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring that potential issues are addressed in a timely and effective manner 

 Ensure that development KPIs are set and reported on regularly to ensure that business is delivering against its strategic goals 

Supplier Sourcing & Management :

  • Identify, vet, and manage existing and new raw material, packaging, and manufacturing suppliers with a focus on quality, sustainability, and compliance 

  • Investigate alternate sources of supply to major product categories; assess supplier capacities and skill sets 

  • Partner with the Head of Operations & NPD to negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to drive cost savings and supply chain efficiency and network strength 

  • Develop and maintain long-term supplier relationships to ensure reliable and consistent sourcing 

  • Stay updated on industry regulations and sustainability trends to maintain compliance and ensure all sourced materials meet FDA, cGMP, and other regulatory standards

  • Understand ongoing market insight and knowledge on changes associated with the selected commodities, vendors/suppliers, market conditions, and pricing domestically and internationally 

  • Mitigate supply chain risks by maintaining backup suppliers and forecasting material needs 

  • Working closely with the Senior Supply Chain Planning Manager to optimize inventory levels 

Ideal candidate: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Sustainability, Business, or a related field 

  • 3+ years managing projects with a preference for commercializing Consumer Packaging Goods (CPG) in the dietary supplements space 

  • 3+ years experience in strategic sourcing, international supply chain or commodity management 

  • Manufacturing background (ideally in CPG space) with the ability to understand and communicate best practice concepts effectively 

  • Experience in vendor management, auditing, and risk assessment 

  • Excellent proactive communication, negotiation skills and follow up with external partners including brand partners, co-manufacturers and vendor relations 

  • Excellent verbal and written skills, ability to work efficiently with all levels of the company and able to effectively present technical information to technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Excellent organization, time management and project management abilities with proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, timeline-focused team environment 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

  •  Energetic and driven with a strong sense of urgency 

  • Careful attention to accuracy and detail 

  • Organized and process-oriented 

  • Proficient with project management tools such as Trello 

  • Proficient with Google Suite and/or MS Office (especially Sheets/Excel, Slides/Powerpoint) 

Bonus points: 

  • PMP or other relevant project management certifications are a plus 

  • Design background with familiarity in packaging die lines 

  • Experience with Adobe Suite (In Design, Illustrator, Photoshop) 

  • Experience at a high-growth, fast-paced startup
