National Security Program Manager

Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is a multi-program laboratory applying state of the art science and practical, high-value, cost-effective solutions to complex technical problems to protect the nation. Located at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Savannah River Site (SRS), the laboratory develops and deploys innovative technologies to address some of the nation’s environmental, energy, and national security challenges.

SRNL’s Global Security Directorate (GSD) is seeking a highly qualified and motivated National Security Program Manager, responsible for the coordination, development, and execution of part of the NA-23 portfolio supporting NNSA’s Office of Material Management and Minimization (M3), generally in the NA-233, Dispose section of the portfolio.  The SRNL support to the Dispose program centers primarily on the Surplus Plutonium Disposition program which is responsible for disposing of 34 metric tons (MT) of weapon-grade plutonium that has been declared excess to U.S. national security requirements using a dilute and dispose strategy and transporting it to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) geologic repository for permanent disposal.  

The near-term focus of the capital line-item Surplus Plutonium Disposition Project is to install three new glovebox lines and necessary support systems in the K Area at SRS.
