Associate Director/Director, SMA Infusion Lead

Summary of Position:


The SMA Infusion Lead will be responsible for developing and implementing Scholar Rock’s infusion support program and will lead a team of Infusion Specialists/Clinical Nurse Educators focused on enhancing the patient experience for a potential novel, infused treatment option for individuals living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).

This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of those living with a rare neuromuscular disease through a patient-centric infusion approach and strong partnership with Patient Access and Experience colleagues to support a seamless patient journey.


Position Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement Scholar Rock’s educational programming and resources on infusion (e.g., protocols, guidelines, order sets)
  • Lead team of infusion specialists who support HCPs and sites of care through the infusion process of Scholar Rock’s approved therapies
  • Collaborate with internal cross functional partners and external partners to identify challenges/barriers and ensure ongoing support to HCPs, patients, and families throughout the patient journey
  • Drive initiatives to streamline processes and improve infusion experience for SMA patients by providing ongoing support to the infusion nurses and insights/best practice sharing
  • Work with Scholar Rock’s Patient Support Program, partners, and patient-facing teams to ensure smooth transition between sites of care for infusions
  • Support identification and onboarding of Ambulatory Infusion Centers (AICs), as necessary
  • Foster strong relationships and facilitate effective communication with peers across market access, patient services operations, sales, marketing, medical, payer, trade & distribution, data & analytics, legal, and compliance
  • Analyze data and metrics to monitor performance, making data-driven decisions to optimize capabilities
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards in the delivery of patient support
  • Ability to travel up to 50% is required. Must be able to travel to meetings, and educational programs as necessary
  • Completes continuing education and training, as necessary, to maintain certifications and licensure


Candidate Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, Registered Nurse (RN) with Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years previous specialized home health experience and ambulatory infusion center experience desired; bilingual preferred
  • Infusion nurse certification (e.g., CRNI, IgCN) desirable
  • Minimum of 3 years leading an infusion team or similar, including experience developing and implementing infusion team strategy
  • At least 5 years of relevant pharmaceutical experience: Infusion, Neuromuscular, Pediatric Neurology, or other specialty experience preferred
  • Experience working on matrixed/cross-functional teams and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
  • Patient-centric and empathetic with good listening and effective communication skills
  • Experience in rare disease, buy & bill, and understanding of provider reimbursement processes is preferred
  • Comfortable presenting in group settings, live, and virtually
  • Ability to represent Scholar Rock at industry conferences specific to SMA and infusions
  • Strategic and solution-oriented with exceptional critical thinking skills required
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Appropriate and current immunizations and screenings (as required by policy or State and Federal laws or signed waiver)
