Business Systems Deveoper - Westchase District

The Business Systems Developer is responsible for developing and implementing software programs for the organization using a wide variety of front-end and back-end technologies. Leveraging their expertise with web programming languages to design responsive and dynamic web applications, experience with restful API integrations, and their understanding of relational database platforms, the business systems developer collaborates with business units to engineer creative solutions that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization. This role has a heavy focus on programming and development using Microsoft frameworks (Blazor, C#, .NET Core) and relational databases (MS SQL, Oracle SQL) to develop tailor-made web applications and business automations.

  • Designs and develops software solutions. Uses appropriate programming languages (C#, HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS3) and frameworks (.NET Core, Blazor) to design, develop, and test custom applications and integrations. Serves as the SME for all in-house developed applications. Adheres to version control and team development best practices.
  • Responds to Tier 3 operational issues for production deployed applications. Troubleshoots, researches, updates, and extends existing applications currently deployed in Smart Financial’s application portfolio. Develops and updates CICD pipelines.
  • Leverages Business Process Improvement principles (Lean Management, Six Sigma) to develop automations that solve business requirements, improve performance, enhance productivity and increase communication across the organization.
  • Designs queries and reports from Oracle, SQL Server, and Microsoft Access databases. Develops reports with various reporting software such as iDashboards, PowerBI, MS Access, and MS Excel. Creates APIs to fetch data from databases.
  • Ensures security standards and best practices are applied and maintained across all internally developed applications within the Smart Financial application portfolio.
  • Creates application documentation including architecture diagrams, integration diagrams, and end-user operational documentation and tutorials.

Experience:

Requires five to eight years of experience in Information Technology developing applications leveraging a general programming language. Preferred five to eight years experience in the Financial Industry, Credit Union IT Operations, or Business Intelligence.

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Business Intelligence, Finance, Statistics, or related field or equivalent five additional years experience.

Preferred: Associates or college elective hours in general programming language or business intelligence.

Interpersonal Skills:

Requires ability to proactively reach out to business subject matter experts and end users to help gather business requirements, troubleshoot issues, and provide end user guidance. This position requires a high level of discretion and data stewardship as conversations with end users, direct and indirect reports, and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising individuals on IT and software development best practices.

Other Skills:

Required:

• 3 -5 years experience developing applications leveraging C#, .Net Core or ASP.NET, HTML, CSS, XML, and Javascript

• Proficient in Visual Studio 2019 or similar IDE and POSTMAN

• Proficient in using SQL, MySQL, or Oracle SQL

• Working knowledge developing full stack Blazor Web Applications and deploying applications on IIS Manager on local servers • Proficient using Git version control to push, pull, and merge branches

Preferred:

• Experience with Fiserv DNA Financial Core or modern Financial Core

• Experience with Automic Enterprise Scheduler platform

• Proficient developing CICD pipelines and general DevOps practices

• Understanding of common programming data structures (e.g. arrays, lists, hashtables, dictionaries, trees, etc.)

• Full understanding of relational databases and architectures

• Proficiency leveraging LLM chat platforms to augment development and research

• Experience developing or leveraging Machine Learning or other AI models

• Advanced understanding of SQL Server and Oracle 12c or newer

• Expert with Microsoft Office, SharePoint 2019 on premise or newer

ADA Requirements/Physical Requirements

Performs primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in emergency. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Working Conditions

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Mental and/or Emotional Requirements

Must be able to perform job functions independently and with limited supervision. Must work effectively as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations with accuracy. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under stress of deadline, requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on confidential matters.
