St. Luke’s Boise is Idaho’s largest health care provider, the flagship hospital of St. Luke’s Health System and home to the state’s only Children’s Hospital. Our Medical ICU features 16-beds where you will care for intensive care patients who have not undergone surgery, including those patients with conditions such as GI bleed, renal failure, balloon pump, ETOH withdrawal, drug overdose, sepsis, COPD, and post-cardiac arrest.

 

Our Surgical ICU, on the other hand, is a 16-bed unit where you will care for patients post-operatively from procedures such as openheart surgery, thoracotomy, major vascular surgeries, neurosurgery, and any post-surgical patient requiring ICU monitoring. Additionally, you may also care for preoperative patients, including those with medically managed stroke or neurology conditions.

 

Although these are separate units you will have the opportunity cross train to both should you choose to.

Qualifications: CNA 

 

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current CNA Certification in the State of Practice
  • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider certification

Qualifications: Nurse Apprentice 

 

Licenses/Certifications: 

 

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited school of nursing (ACEN, CCNE, or CNEA accreditations)
  • Experience: 0 years experience
  • Licenses/Certifications:
  • Nurse Apprentice Letter OR Nursing Intern Letter from the State Board of Nursing . The Nurse Apprentice is able to remain in the Nurse Apprentice position following graduation while awaiting RN or GN Licensure or 90 days, whichever comes first.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certified through American Safety and Health Institute, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross.
