The System Offices is one of several system members within the Texas A&M University System representing one of the largest systems of higher education in the nation, with a network of 11 universities, a comprehensive health science center, eight state agencies, and the RELLIS Campus. The Texas A&M University System mission is to provide education, conduct research, commercialize technology, offer training, and deliver services for the people of Texas and beyond.

Salary:

$14.53 - $26.98 per hour commensurate with experience.

Job Description Summary:

The Financial Specialist II is responsible for assisting the Financial Analyst III with analysis and financial reporting on the System benefit and insurance plans to include premium development, tracking of claim and plan history, and development of alternative financial models.

This position is located in College Station, TX and is not eligible for remote work.

Responsibilities:

Financial:

- Assist in the maintenance of revenue, expense, rebate, and enrollment schedules.

- Assist in verifying the accuracy and completeness of information being provided by insurance carriers.

- Assist in the preparation of monthly P&L statements for the self-insured health and dental plans, monthly financial reports, and statistics regarding the self-insured plans and related reserves.

- Assist in the monthly reconciliation of FAMIS accounts and ad-hoc reporting as needed for benefits, retirement, and wellness.

- Assist in providing monthly reporting to benefit vendors, including Long Term Disability and Life and AD&D, for vendor billing and premium reconciliation purposes.

- Liaison between System Benefits Administration and the COBRA administrator, facilitating the administration and operation to ensure COBRA compliance.

- Analyze claim data from the medical prescription drug and dental providers for the PPO plans.

- Manage competitive bid process and drafting of contracts or administrative agreements.

- Assist in the monitoring of carrier/provider compliance with contract and performance standards.

- Assist Financial with reports related to various plan funding and benefit issues.

Administrative:

- Provide advanced clerical support to System Benefits Administration.

- Assist in receiving and logging System Benefits Administration calls from front desk receptionist and route to the appropriate team member.

- Assist in entering and maintaining purchase requisitions in AggieBuy.

- Responsible for maintaining the procurement card process (purchasing and invoicing).

- Order office, meeting, and food supplies as needed.

- Serve as Absence Partner, Timekeeper, and Human Resources Contact for System Benefits Administration.

- Submit work order tickets for maintenance, phones, Information Technology, and all other departmental needs.

- Other duties as assigned


Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five years of related experience.

- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and analytical skills.
- Advanced skills in word processing and spreadsheet applications.

- Ability to understand and interpret contract documents.

- Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.

- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
