Position: Program Associate, Lawmaker Engagement 

Location: National. 100% Remote, with 5-10% of expected travel.

Position Details:

This is a full-time, exempt, at-will position. The team currently operates remotely, with occasional in-person team retreats, etc. Some travel will be required. Additional evening and weekend hours are occasionally required to fulfill the duties of this position. 


The Opportunity:

The Program Associate, Lawmaker Engagement will have the opportunity to support the Lawmaker Engagement Team, working to ensure that lawmakers have the tools and resources they need to improve people’s lives. This includes supporting administrative functions across the Lawmaker Engagement team and on resources like the America’s Goals policy library, data and logistics support, and programming including briefings, seminars, cohorts, and the TSP Fellowship.


The successful candidate will have excellent organizational skills, critical thinking abilities, and the ability to juggle multiple competing priorities. They will act as a key support for the team, helping to coordinate Lawmaker Engagement team activities, support aspects of programming, and execute the accurate tracking of data, creation of materials, and complex internal and external communication. This position reports directly to the Vice President, Lawmaker Engagement, working closely with members across the team. 


What You Will Do:

Principal activities will include but not be limited to: 


Support for Lawmaker Communications and Engagement:

-Coordinate virtual and in-person Lawmaker Engagement programs and events by managing logistics and team support, including but not limited to the Fellowship, policy briefings, staff conferences/retreats and professional development, seminars, etc. This may include setting up and managing Zooms, tracking RSVPs and attendance, coordinating travel for participants, ordering supplies, conducting research and updating content and/or materials, and ensuring budget allocation alignment across all of the above.

-Ensure quality control of data and mailing lists, including innovating and developing new systems to ensure contacts are up to date and tagged appropriately, execute email sends using various email management tools, and coordinate with the Communications team to track outcomes for all email blasts and ensure appropriate responses are sent to incoming.

-Conduct research, follow up, and other responsibilities as assigned, including innovating to improve tracking systems for these requests.

-Coordinate internal processes and draft and send communications, including managing content calendar and approvals processes and engaging in project management to ensure deadlines are met.


Operational Support for Team:

-Manage team logistical support including scheduling and notetaking at events as needed.

-Draft documents  for monthly reporting, donor decks, and other requests as needed, and develop and maintain centralized repositories for approved content.

-Research and develop new tools and technologies that may support team work, including helping train team members on adoption.


Research and Tracking:

-Independently direct lawmaker/staff requests to appropriate team members and ensure we are responding in a timely manner.

-Maintain up to date and accurate information regarding lawmakers, legislative staff, and other key relationships, and create new systems/methods to improve such functions.

-Compile and analyze lawmaker survey data, maintaining lawmaker data and supporting lawmaker assessments, and collaborate with Analytics teams on ways to present such data to differing audiences.


Qualifications

-Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience

-Passion for and alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and theory of change

-Strong organizational skills, including ability to exercise independent judgement to ensure budgetary and timeline compliance

-Self-starter with a drive to make things happen: proven track record of excellence and high standards for success.

-Highly collaborative approach

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills

-Capable of independently managing time and tasks associated with a fast-paced organization


Desired Qualifications

-At least 2 years’ experience working in politics, policy, non-profits or government at any level

-Familiarity with email marketing platforms, customer relationship management platforms, and database management programs.


Benefits:

The position offers a competitive benefits package. Benefits currently offered include 75% paid coverage of medical, dental, and vision for individuals and dependents, basic life insurance, an employee assistance program, unlimited PTO, 401(k) matching, annual professional development, wellness, and work-from-home stipends and paid family leave.


Compensation:

The salary for this position is  $73,000 - 78,280*. Salary offers are made based on the market rate and the candidate's demonstrated level of proficiency, experience, and credentials.


*The pay rate or range noted for this position is in compliance with the District of Columbia Wage Transparency Omnibus Amendment Act of 2023, NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, and other state and local laws.
