As a Homewares Buyer (12-18 month parental cover), you will play a pivotal role in shaping our homewares offer, balancing creativity with sound commercial judgement to deliver ranges that resonate with Kiwi households.

Job Description

In this role, you’ll take ownership of one of our key categories, working end-to-end across the buying process. You will be responsible for curating customer-focused assortments that reflect emerging trends and deliver strong commercial outcomes. This is a critical position where your expertise and influence will directly shape our in-store and online offer.

Key responsibilities:

  • Category Management: Drive the performance of the Homewares category through effective range planning, supplier engagement, and commercial execution.
  • Trend Awareness: Keep ahead of home and lifestyle trends, ensuring our product offer remains fresh, relevant, and competitive.
  • Supplier Relationships: Build and maintain productive partnerships with local and global suppliers to secure the right products at the right price.
  • Commercial Execution: Develop and implement category strategies that maximise sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Insight-Led Decision Making: Leverage data, customer insights, and market trends to inform buying decisions and identify new opportunities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with planning, product development, and marketing teams to ensure ranges are executed seamlessly across channels.

  • Significant Buying Experience: A proven background in buying, ideally within Homewares or a complementary retail category.
  • Commercial Mindset: Strong analytical and financial skills, with the ability to balance creativity with business priorities.
  • Confident Negotiator: Skilled at negotiating with suppliers to deliver value and quality for both the customer and the business.
  • Customer Focused: A deep understanding of what drives customer choice and the ability to translate this into commercially successful ranges.
