Twelve is a new kind of chemical company built for the climate era. Our breakthrough technology eliminates emissions by turning CO2 into essential products. We are a team of scientists, engineers and problem solvers on a mission to fundamentally shift the way the world addresses climate change and lead the transition to a fossil free future with our carbon transformation technology.
The Materials Engineering team within the CO2 Electrolyzer department is responsible for driving innovation in materials solutions needed for our technology. We're seeking a hands-on materials characterization expert focusing on the electrolyzer components and their interfaces (including but not limited to porous media, structural sealants, conductive metal parts). You will work with cross-functional teams to improve our existing electrolyzer technology as well as develop our next-generation electrolyzer product.
What you will do
Lead hands-on materials characterization and durability testing to establish actionable understanding on degradation mechanisms of critical reactor components towards technological innovation.
Work with cross functional teams to define material specifications for reactor components (incl. downselection of materials and compatibility testing).
Support the quality and process development team’s efforts to ensure component reliability in the product life cycle.
Author technical reports, support drafting of government grant proposals and progress reports, and present technical results to internal and external audiences.
Provide mentorship to junior members on the technical teams.
Who you are
Demonstrated experience in solving problems in electrochemical systems by leveraging characterization method and experimental design to identify and solve failure modes in material due to mechanical, chemical, or other environmental stresses.
Expert in understanding of the structure, mechanical behavior, and electrical properties of materials from fundamentals developed from years of study and industry experience
Have extensive hands-on competence with at least three of the following: mechanical testing, conductivity measurement, material composition analysis, porosity and density characterization.
Proficient in statistical data analysis, skilled at effective data visualization, and basic coding/scripting capabilities.
Clear communicator with strong prioritization skills to drive and support cross-team collaboration.
