Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medication maintaining the drug inventory and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy technicians work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist. Duties include handling credit card payments according to Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS). In addition to the normal background check a credit check screening will be completed in compliance with CHW policy. The position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support the Organization's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Recent (within two years) prior experience (minimum 6 months) in a Pharmacy preparing sterile I.V. admixture.
  • Must have a total of at least three (3) years experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • CA Pharmacy Technician from the CA Board of Pharmacy is required.
  • Completion of a Pharmacy Technician training program is required.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Able to perform basic mathematical and algebraic calculations.
  • Familiar with computers and knowledge of aseptic technique.
  • Ability to prepare sterile IV products.

PREFERRED:

  • Previous hospital pharmacy experience is preferred.
