Overview

Dr. Huaqing Wang’s lab in the Department of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning at Utah State University is seeking a highly motivated and talented Post-Doctoral Researcher (Postdoctoral Fellow I) to join our team and contribute to an exciting P20 NIH project focused on the intersection of greenspace, climate change, and human health.

Dr. Huaqing Wang’s lab is looking for a talented postdoctoral researcher to join a major P20 NIH project exploring the relationship between greenspace, climate change, and human health. The project aims to understand and mitigate the impacts of climate change on human health through the enhancement and optimization of urban greenspaces. This interdisciplinary research requires the use of Python-GIS for spatial analysis and statistical methods in R. The position is initially for one year, with the potential for an additional year.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced research in the fields of greenspace, climate change, and human health.
  • Utilize Python-GIS for geospatial analysis and modeling.
  • Apply statistical methods in R to analyze and interpret research data.
  • Collaborate with the project team on data collection, fieldwork, and literature reviews.
  • Prepare and submit research manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals.
  • Present research findings at conferences and public forums.
  • Assist in the development of grant proposals for project sustainability.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Landscape Architecture, City Planning, Geography, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience using Python-GIS for geospatial analysis.
  • Proficiency in R for statistical analysis and data visualization.
  • A record of publications in the fields of greenspace and human health.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
