Responsibilities

About This Position

In keeping with the Marian Regional Medical Center health care philosophy, the Registered Nurse manages quality patient care through the nursing process. Coordinates plan of care with the health care team. Assumes leadership role for unit personnel to prepare and assist them with their responsibilities. Employees are responsible for completion of unit competency assessments, annual safety review, CPR, NRP, and renewal of license by maintaining continuing education units as required by hospital policy. Employees must successfully pass clinical math exam prior to orientation to unit. In addition to these major responsibilities, the Registered Nurse may be assigned other duties.

 

The RN L&D role requires that the candidate be able to work within a team model of patient-care delivery, have proficient basic nursing skills and specialty skills, have knowledge of the nursing process and the ability to apply these principles appropriately, have a caring and compassionate attitude, be able to organize and prioritize work efficiently, and have clear and effective written and oral English skills and objective active-listening skills. The candidate will also need to be able to actively participate in process improvement activities and be able to work with others across all departments.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse Graduate with 6 months to one (1) year of work experience and new graduates without acute care experience will be considered on an individual basis.
  • Current California Registered Nurse license or interim permit.
  • Current approved health care provider CPR certification - BLS.
  • Current PALS within 30 days of hire date.
  • NRP Certification within 30 days of hire date.
  • Basic Fetal Monitoring Certificate presented upon hire; or for new graduates achieved within the Orientation Process.
  • Completion of an Advanced Fetal Monitoring Course within 2 years of employment. This certificate must be maintained.
