About Us:

Track Concepts is a digital consumer technology company based in Amsterdam, with additional offices in Perth and Barcelona. We are part of UNITH, an ASX-listed AI company, and specialize in subscription-based web applications powered by UNITH’s cutting-edge Digital Human technology.

We serve customers in over 20 languages across content verticals like children’s media, travel, and wellbeing. At the core of our operation is a powerful, custom-built CMS and Direct Carrier Billing (DCB) platform, enabling us to deliver seamless user experiences at scale.

The Role:

We’re looking for a Senior Ruby on Rails DevOps Engineer to join us on a freelance, part-time basis (2–3 days/week) with flexibility to be on-call when needed.

You’ll help strengthen the core of our backend operations and infrastructure — maintaining stability, supporting improvements, and ensuring continuity across our Rails-based platform. You’ll collaborate closely with our senior engineer and gradually take ownership of key areas to provide technical resilience and peace of mind.

This is an ideal role for a senior freelancer who enjoys stepping into established systems, making an impact without the full-time commitment, and being a reliable technical pillar.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and optimize our Ruby on Rails CMS and DCB payments platform (Rails 7.2)
  • Support and manage on-premises infrastructure (FreeBSD)
  • Implement and refine CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, TeamCity)
  • Monitor and improve application performance, logs, and alerts (Monit)
  • Ensure security best practices across infrastructure and codebase
  • Manage MySQL environments, including replication between DB servers
  • Collaborate with backend, product, and commercial teams to support features and growth
  • Be available on an on-call basis to respond to critical alerts and system issues

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of Ruby on Rails engineering experience with DevOps responsibilities
  • Proficiency with FreeBSD, Jenkins, GitHub, Puppet, TeamCity, Monit
  • Strong experience with MySQL (incl. replication and performance tuning)
  • Solid understanding of system architecture, networking, and security
  • Comfortable working independently and collaborating remotely
  • Availability for part-time engagement and on-call support
  • Bonus: Experience with Direct Carrier Billing (DCB)

Why Join Us:

  • Be part of an innovative AI-driven product company with international reach
  • Flexible freelance setup (retainer + hourly possible)
  • Work with a kind, capable, cross-functional team based in Amsterdam, Barcelona & Perth
  • Direct impact on a platform used by thousands of daily users
  • Future growth potential — both technical and strategic
