The Village of Mount Prospect, Illinois, population 56,852 is located along Metra’s Union Pacific Northwest Line, 23 miles from downtown Chicago and five miles north of O’Hare International Airport. The Village is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Administrative Assistant at the Police Department.
The position will perform daily clerical and administrative tasks to support the operations of the Police Administration Division. The Administrative Assistant has a variety of duties including to transcribe, draft, and distribute Field Operations and Crime Prevention memos, collect and disseminate crime trend data, schedule school visits and lockdown drills for Crime Prevention, administer the department’s residential alarm program, facilitate the department’s awards program, and assist with the police department’s recruit testing and receptions for department events.
Requirements
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED and have a minimum of one year of administrative experience working in a professional environment; 2-5 years is preferred. The ideal candidate would possess a working knowledge of Canva graphic design software, be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher, and be proficient in administrative skills including typing, phone etiquette, and paper and electronic filing. Candidates must be able to work independently and maintain strict confidentiality.
Starting salary for this position is $55,146 - $66,175 when annualized, depending on qualifications. The salary range for this position is $55,146 - $77,204.
