InfoSec Decision Automation (IDA) team delivers advanced, data-driven services to enable scalable, Risk and Compliance management products and services for Walmart Information Security organization.

• We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer (Data Engineering) who has a passion for developing data processing and aggregation services for our Infosec Risk and Compliance area.
• If you are an existing Staff Software Engineer or would like to be a one and has the technical leadership ability to guide the team with hands on technology expertise, then you are the person we are looking for.

What you will do

As a lead data engineer, you will be responsible for the following

  • Apply data engineering techniques and best practices for data centric operations related to Information Security Risk and Compliance domain.
  • Data processing, transformation and data lifecycle management- Data Staging, Aggregation, computations, analytics, and processing large data sets to meet business needs of managing security issues for Risk and Compliance domain.
  • Data pipeline development and operations – you will be building data pipelines, fine tuning pipelines and scaling them for functional data processing requirements. 
  • Continuously researching, doing experiments, and staying current and be up to date with technology improvements and directions.
  • Will be managing data integration layers, upstream and downstream data flow insights and operations.
  • Building data centric products that scales with big data solutions like Apache Spark, GCP Data Proc, Async messaging (Kafka) using programming languages such as Java or Python and SQL.
  • Acting as a technology advisor and lead, to guide a team of data engineers to deliver best in class products and services, for Risk and Compliance business unit.
  • Additional knowledge on Machine Learning is an added plus and applying them to classify and provide decision insights.
  • You will work with security engineers, external teams, and partners in an agile methodology to build and release product features that caters to business requirements.
  • Use your knowledge of data architectures, data patterns, big data solutions to support large scale data processing as part of vulnerability management, risk and compliance domain.
  • Build complex logical and conceptual models and provide guidance to team on physical data models. Identify and define the appropriate techniques for exposing data to other systems.
  • You will be adopting to Walmart Global Technology standards, learn Walmart platforms, Core Services and Managed services for our products and services.
  • You will be working hand in hand with product owner and managers to define product roadmap and feature releases.

What you will bring

  • Expertise in SQL (Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, BigQuery) and NO SQL technologies (Cassandra or Mongo DB).
  • Experience in data orchestration using orchestration frameworks like Airflow, Dagster or Luigi
  • Deep expertise with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Apache Spark and GCP Dataproc.
  • Experience with streaming technologies such as Apache Storm, Flink, Kafka
  • Working experience in triaging, debugging and resolving data quality issues, data syncs failures and pipeline monitoring
  • Working experience in Azure/GCP Cloud solutions and platforms
  • Working experience in programming language such as Java, Python and SQL.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new programming languages or technologies
  • Experience in developing and implementing ML algorithms, model training and evaluation, deployment and monitoring.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • CISA, CISSP, Security+ or any other security certification
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to summarize, simplify and deep dive as required. 
  • Awareness about information security areas of work such as risk and compliance, vulnerability management, security controls and solutions. ​​​​​​​

Minimum Qualifications...
