We took an unobvious approach to starting a payments company, building a platform from scratch. Today, we're the payments platform of choice for the world's brightest companies. Adyen was founded in 2006 by a group of entrepreneurs, including Pieter van der Does and Arnout Schuijff. The existing payments technology consisted of a patchwork of systems built on outdated infrastructure. With the aim of helping businesses grow, the co-founders set out to build a platform capable of meeting the rapidly evolving needs of today's fast-growing global businesses.

Adyen's founding team called the business Adyen – Surinamese for "Start over again" – and focused on building a modern infrastructure directly connected to card networks and local payment methods across the world, allowing for unified commerce and providing shopper data insights to merchants. The Adyen platform enables merchants to accept payments in a single system, enabling revenue growth online, on mobile devices and at the point of sale.

    • We have offices in San Francisco, New York, and Toronto. Our teams in North America focus on growth - from growing awareness in the region to growing some of the world’s largest tech companies and most well known retail brands.
  • Latin America
    • We have offices in São Paulo and Mexico City. Our teams are mostly focused on showing local retailers the benefits of letting go of ancient, legacy systems and investing in the latest payments technology.
  • APAC
    • We have offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Mumbai. Our teams focus on learning about the complexity of the APAC market, while building products to support merchants.
  • Europe
    • Where it all began, we have offices in Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, London, Madrid, Manchester, Milan, Munich, Paris, and Stockholm.

  • Formula Fit interview - Over a video call, we’ll chat about your experience, motivations, and why you want to work for Adyen. 
  • Skills test - For some roles, you’ll be required to complete a skills test or case study.
  • Skills interview - We’ll go in depth on your skills and how they relate to the role.
  • Board Interview - Every applicant meets a member of our board before being hired.

Opened in 2014, our office is 20,0000 light-filled square feet in the heart of SoMa - three blocks from the ballpark and two from the Bay. Coffee, snacks and communal lunches aside, we have everything you need to work the way you want to. Sit at a desk, a cushy couch or even the balcony as you enjoy a view of the Bay Bridge. We've got everything you need to feel "gezellig," an utterly untranslatable Dutch word for "cozy."
