About Us

AMAROK is Proud of our Past

In 1973, Founder Bill Mullis established a commercial property security company that raised and trained guard dogs as a service. Despite having his protective fleet on site, he was still experiencing break-ins. In 1991, he decided to build, test, and continuously improve an electric security fence designed to offer the best protection for his place of business. In time, this electric security fence, due to its unmatched deterrence value, replaced the dogs and we soon became the Electric Guard Dog.  
 
Our company quickly grew into a multi-faceted security business over the next two decades as companies in the auto auction, metal recycling, freight, and rental industries began seeing the results and cost savings that the Electric Guard Dog brought them. We've grown to become a trusted security partner for market leaders in all of these core segments because nothing protects like an electric fence. 
 
In 2007, a majority interest in Electric Guard Dog was acquired by a group of private investors led by Ulysses Management. Seeing the ever-increasing demand for our products and services, and the opportunity to broaden the reach of the product to new industries, the new ownership group began to put in place the infrastructure for growth. 
 
In 2016, Electric Guard Dog's was acquired by Snow Phipps. Less than two months after the acquisition, the company closed on its own acquisition, Perimeter Security Systems, and was named  SDM Magazine's 2016 Dealer of the Year

In 2020, we rebranded as AMAROK™ to represent our organization’s evolution to become the Ultimate Perimeter Security provider. Our goal with this change is for our new name and branding to reflect the intensity, aggressiveness, and dedication we put into protecting our customers every single day. As a nod to our heritage and to stay true to who we are, we have named the electric fence, our core product, The Electric Guard Dog (TM) Through our rebrand, we continue to innovate to bring comprehensive, cost-effective solutions to our customers. In 2020, we launched FORTIFEYE™, the world’s first integrated electric fence, video surveillance, and monitoring solution. 

In 2021, AVALT and Northleaf Capital acquired AMAROK, with a focus to grow and invest to make AMAROK the Ultimate Perimeter Security company in North America.  

With awards ranging from the top 20 security companies in the U.S. on the SDM 100 List to Security Dealer & Integrator's "Fast 50" of security integrators, our company is distinguished, earning awards not only for our innovative security solutions but for our work environment.  

In 2022, we ranked #2 on Selling Power’s Top 50 Companies to Sell For – our fourth year holding either first or second place. Since 2017, AMAROK has been named one of the Best Places to Work in South Carolina, most recently ranked #5 in 2021.  

Our security solutions have been recognized with the ASTORS Homeland Security Award for three consecutive years, with our most recent recognition being the 2021 Platinum Perimeter Security Solution ASTORS Award.
