Pros

Coming from a completely different field and work environment, I wanted to make sure I was with the company long enough to notice the good, bad, and ugly. Still, every day I wake up excited to come to work, I brag to friends and family about my job and amazing company, and I actually feel like I'm making a difference. Bowman provides resources to help support employees in many different ways: Flexible work from home model, 2-hour lunch break, ongoing training (from/for everyone in the company), generous benefits and pay. To top it all off, the most caring, supportive, collaborative, helpful team and boss/CEO I've ever had the pleasure to work with. Even compared to 99% of the people I know, this company has better opportunities, pay, and work-life balance. The commission plan is the best I have seen. It's easily laid out for you so you can see how much you are able to make. It incents collaboration and long-term growth. I never have to worry about making end's meat, even on a slow month since there is base + commission. The company culture is important here - it's not just buzz words to make everyone feel good. They expect intellectual honesty, teamwork, and want folks to speak up and speak out. If you see something that needs changing, whether it's our processes, how we can serve our community better, or even needs you have to make your job easier/better, you are heard. Whether you've been here from the beginning, or you just walked in the door on day one. In addition, diversity is not just tolerated, it's celebrated. I have never gotten a second glance, nor had to feel like I had to prove myself to be professional just because of the way I look. Everyone I work with get's along incredibly. I'd go as far as saying we are friends. This can be a great thing for some places, and devastating for others. Luckily with the collaborative and diverse team we have, everyone not only plays their part but also lends a hand to anyone in need at any given time. The CEO and leaders go out of their way to celebrate everyone's success, create a warm and welcoming environment, and reward the hard work we do with incredible company outings, holiday parties, and happy hours. Everyone you meet is passionate about what they do, the team, and the company. There is no fear in speaking honestly which drives the discussions on how we can continuously improve. Relatively flat technical organizations. If you don't like going through multiple layers of management to get to a decision-maker, this is the place for you. Asking open-ended questions, or clarifications is part of the norm. Everyone wants to make the best possible decisions and outcomes, revealing blind spots or things we didn't consider is how we learn and grow. Which in turn helps everyone support each other. Everyone is involved and is always encouraged to "Trust your gut." There is transparency, leaders walk the talk with culture and values, everyone is genuinely helpful to train and ramp new employees, decision making is fast, title and hierarchy are never in the way of doing what is right. All in all, I can't speak on what may have been issues in the past, but I know the team that is currently here, I will continue to rant and rave over every day until given a reason not to. I 100% give my stamp of approval. I suggest to others who may be considering a position here, do not let the reviews of bitter ex-employees stop you from at least giving it a shot. Meet the team, meet the leaders, learn to love your work again.

Cons

Bowman innovates at a crazy pace. There is more work to do than time to do it. But everyone around you is working hard, not only on their own accounts but always able to stop to help with what you need as well. And doing what you love, with people you care about, with a CEO that seems genuinely to be one of the nicest human beings I've ever met makes me want to work that much harder, too. So the biggest negative is being prepared to move quickly to keep up with the rapid growth. The job is fast-paced and challenging. Especially if you do not come from the technical or recruiting world. You will be challenged with difficult clients and stranger than life candidate requests, all while fighting the clock. However, once you've gotten it, you've got it. You get into the flow of how things should work. Of course, there will always be curveballs, but that is industry-wide.
