It all started with one big dream, two crazy cousins, and the perfect combination of flour, sugar, and chocolate chips. Crumbl was co-founded by Jason McGowan (CEO) & Sawyer Hemsley (COO). They both teamed up and dove head-first into the world of baking. After thousands of dollars in wasted dough, recipes that did not live up to their expectations, and cookies that are just plain embarrassing to them today, the two cousins decided to take their 'perfect cookie quest' to the people. They gathered feedback and tested recipes — a practice that is still part of the Crumbl process — until they created the world’s best chocolate chip cookie.

THE FIRST CRUMBL 🏡

As we reflect on our growth over the past few years, we can’t help but look back on the very first Crumbl location and how far we’ve come. 🤗

In 2017, Jason McGowan and Sawyer Hemsley spent hundreds of hours perfecting a chocolate chip cookie recipe. With that recipe, they opened the very first Crumbl store in Logan, Utah. The location cost $900 per month and had a broken heater, a painted-over pizza sign, and a homemade serving counter. 🍪

At the time, we only offered our fresh Milk Chocolate Chip cookies for takeout and delivery, but we wanted customers to see our cookies being mixed, balled, baked and dressed in real time—a practice we still implement today. 🧑‍🍳

Since our first store opened, we’ve introduced our iconic Pink Box, rotating menu, nationwide shipping, mystery cookie, the Crumbl App and its rewards program, new stores nationally and internationally, meaningful partnerships, and so much more. 🤩
