Hard but rewarding experience for the curious and ambitious

Approves of CEO

Pros

Leadership: -Our CEO has a ton of positive energy and he's not afraid to roll up his sleeves and work hard alongside everyone else. He does everything from high level product planning to nitty-gritty sales operations work. He's clearly very passionate about customers and about the company. -Our CIO is brilliant and is always willing to share knowledge. I've worked in fintech, private equity, and crypto, and I've never learned so much about finance and economics as I have in this job. Product: -There is a ton of growth potential and positive response from the target market. -I personally love the product and I'm a customer as well as an employee. People & Culture: -The co-founders are authentic and kind (but quirky!) They're very values-oriented and they genuinely want to make a positive impact in the world by offering better financial options to investors. -Teammates make an effort to work together in-office, but managers are really flexible and everyone is treated as adults who can manage their time. I never feel micromanaged or overly scrutinized with how I manage my time. For example, you can swap out holidays and take off different days instead. I worked Labor Day weekend but then took a few days off later for a family member's birthday trip. I really appreciate the flexibility and trust. -Every person on the team has the opportunity to make a huge impact. -Very encouraging of constant learning. Employees can request (reasonable) budget to attend conferences, sign up for classes, order books, etc.

Cons

Overall, I love it here. But things you should know are: 1) All startups are hard! You need to be very self-directed and understand that all roles at a startup are multi-faceted which potentially require you to stretch. If you need explicit instructions on how to add value, then this is probably not the place for you. 2) You need to be proactive about maintaining your own work-life balance here. That said, the founders and managers are all very respectful of boundaries that you set for yourself.
