Our History

Founded in the Netherlands in 2004, Flow Traders is a leading global liquidity provider historically specialized in Exchange Traded Products (ETPs), we have expanded our proposition to include trading, for example, fixed income, digital assets, FX both on- and off-exchange. Beyond our HQ in Amsterdam, we have offices in 10 locations for our growing team of international colleagues.

Our Culture

Flow Academy

We invest in our people. The Flow Academy is our dedicated Learning & Development department and forms an important part in the continuous training and development of our employees. We place a considerable amount of emphasis on internal knowledge sharing and external trainings that benefit Flow Traders’ employees and the company.

About us

The Trading Floor

Besides Traders, on the Trading floor you'll find: Quantitative Researchers who generate and back test new trading ideas, with generation of alpha and automated strategies as ultimate output goals. Analysts who monitor global news, prepare for major market events and continuously inform our Traders based on macro, micro and fundamental considerations. Institutional Traders who trade off-exchange with institutional investors all over Europe, Asia and the US.

Our Graduate Trading Program

As a Graduate Trader, you will begin your career at Flow with an extensive 4 month training program at either our New York or Netherlands office. You will learn everything you need to know about our core business, the financial products we trade and the intricacies surrounding our trading processes, including pricing strategies and our proprietary trading systems. After completing the program, you will be able to contribute to the profitability of a desk in the real trading environment.

Technology @ Flow Traders

As a technology-enabled trading firm, our Tech department is the foundation of our business. Our technology department makes up over 40% of our total staff and is our largest employee group.

Our Teams

Technologists at Flow Traders are given the freedom to generate innovative ideas that make an immediate impact. We trade using proprietary and scalable software with the vast majority of our applications developed in-house. These include pricing and trading software, market data processing tools, pre-trade risk controls, and other risk and compliance tools. One of our software platform’s core features is its modular design, which allows us to rapidly test and implement ongoing enhancements.

Technology Pillars

Development: Our C++ and Core Java Developers design and build the software suite that keeps Flow Traders miles ahead of its industry peers.

Quality Assurance: QA Testing allows us to effectively identify any potential bugs or issues related to our proprietary trading software developed for our back, mid- and front office functions.

IT: The varied responsibilities together with the excitement of every day being different, makes working in our IT team at Flow Traders especially captivating.

Graduate Software Developer

As a Graduate Software Developer, you will join our development team for one year to work on projects that cover multiple areas of our technology landscape. Throughout the program, you receive continuous support from a dedicated mentor. Bi-annually, we invite an exclusive group of students to CODE@FLOW. This two-day challenge gives participants an opportunity to engage in high-tech discussions and business cases with our specialists in development and trading, followed by a competitive hackathon

Graduate Trader

As a Graduate Trader, you are at the heart of our success! We are looking for creative problem-solvers with a passion for financial markets to join us full-time after graduation. We offer our Trading Business Course for students who are looking to explore trading as career. This program is a unique opportunity to learn directly from our trading team, experience the fast-paced environment of a dynamic trading floor and meet other like-minded students with a passion for financial markets.
