Although we are a cooperative established over 80 years ago, we are far from stuck in the past. GVEC began in 1938 when a group of farmers came together to serve electricity to their local farms and neighbors—since then, we have never stopped moving forward.

Over the years, though, we have never lost sight of what it means to be a cooperative. Our member-owners’ best interests are always at the core of our decisions. This is reflected in the expertise, products and services we have grown into beyond electricity, as well as the community-focused work that has always been a part of who we are.

Providing electric, internet, solar and battery storage, AC/heating, and electrician services to members and communities across our 3,500 square miles, 13-county slice of South Central Texas keeps us dynamic, diversified and in-touch with the needs of those we serve. We believe this is the key to continuing success far into the future.
