Pros

If I would choose one word, I would say motivating for Help Scout. ICs are collaborative and open to communication. Leadership encourages people to have their opinion and advocate for them. Couple of months after I joined, I had a chance to work with CEO directly. One thing took my attention during our collaboration is when people has counter-arguments to his opinion/idea he never immeadiately rejects instead he listens and then asks from people to convince him. And there were times we convinced him because he encourages us to do so! I think three co-founders still working at Help Scout helps a lot to maintain this open culture. If you are a person who like to challenge status quo, create opportunities for yourself and chase after and prioritise independent, proactive work style then top to bottom defined process; Help Scout is a great place to work.

Cons

In terms of cons I should acknowledge there are moving pieces around in terms of priorities or organisational structure. Considering fast-pace environment, customer-first culture and relatively small size of the organisations, I believe these actions are expected to respond internal and external requirements timely.
