Pros
It's mid size allows for intrapreneurial initiatives and handling all aspects of drug development in an asset teams that work like empowered agile biotech companies. One can use all past experience and acquire new ones fast due to the wide range of therapies from neuro to onco, plus rare diseases. Truly multi-functional collaboration across many functions. Non toxic people usually very friendly and happy with great working sites all over the world (for example in Cambridge fantastic river front view of Boston skyline) and truly international feeling, with a distinctive French flavor despite the very American and international very experienced colleagues and leadership coming from major Pharma, with meetings in chateauforms throughout France etc. Truly global internal mobility to anywhere in the world if you deserve and produce for the company.Cons
If you want to specialize too much and just be responsible for a narrow technical area that is possible in a larger company but not at Ipsen where you are expected to understand and communicate often with all other functions from early pharmaceutical development to sales. That can be a con for some but I believe is actually a pro.We strive to build an inclusive workplace where everyone can present their authentic, true selves – enables all of us to deliver on our purpose, making real impact on patients’ lives.
To achieve our goal, we focus our work around three pillars:
As a team of story-doers, we set ourselves ambitious targets and continuously work to reach them by changing mindsets, building skills, and optimizing processes.
A career with Ipsen is about improving patients’ lives. In every department, our high-performing teams are dedicated to making a difference in our three therapeutic areas: oncology, neuroscience and rare diseases.
With total sales close to €2.576 billion in 2019, Ipsen markets more than 20 drugs in over 115 countries with a direct commercial presence in 37 countries.
Our R&D focus is on developing innovative medicines that address unmet patient needs in the areas of oncology, neuroscience and rare diseases. To do this, we placed our main R&D centers in the world-class scientific hubs of Paris-Saclay, France, Oxford, United Kingdom, and Cambridge, United States. This allows us to take advantage of critical networking opportunities and to progress our external innovation philosophy within established scientific ecosystems.
Our Culture
Our Ipsen Way of Being is organized into five pillars. Each is a key ingredient to cultivating a culture of collaboration and excellence among our teams. These interconnected values and behaviors reinforce one another, while also advancing the Ipsen strategy.
We lead with purpose: Our inclusive and diverse teams openly engage with our communities. Our decisions are ethical and our actions compliant. We are dedicated to caring for Ipsen employees and the environment.

We own the outcome: We consistently promote single-point accountability. We understand the importance of celebrating success and are committed to unleashing our full potential and excellence in execution.
Without our people, we cannot deliver on our mission – to improve patients’ lives.
That’s why, at Ipsen, we empower all our employees to develop by making every day a learning experience.
We offer formal learning programs, meaningful development plans and mentorship opportunities across our business so that our employees can develop the skills they need both now and in the future. In 2022, 23,1% of our open positions were filled by internal candidates.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, learning and development has remained an essential part of our business. To ensure our people could continue their development, we’ve created virtual learning playlists to sharpen skills, as well as transformed our in-person trainings into effective, virtual events.
At Ipsen, our goal is to make a difference for patients. To ensure we achieve that goal, we reward what matters: our employees’ contributions.
We work to provide a flexible and innovative environment to care for our employees and that supports our business objectives. Clear and fair, our compensation framework has been designed to uphold our rigorous ethics and compliance standards. We reward individual, collective and group success.
We make sure that our employees are treated fairly wherever they are located. Our compensation strategy is adapted to local markets to ensure compliance while remaining competitive. While we pay close attention to local markets, we are also putting benefits standards in place worldwide, including:
Ipsen is firmly dedicated to protecting the environment and supporting the communities in which we operate.
Our corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy is based on three pillars: employees, patients and society and the environment.
In 2019, we introduced three CSR criteria into our external financing facility to underscore our commitment to sustainability. These criteria include increasing the number of women in leadership roles, reducing our greenhouse gas emissions and encouraging our employees to volunteer at and support healthcare associations.
We remain dedicated to promoting ethical, responsible and transparent practices for the good of our communities, our employees and our patients.
