We’re a small, fully distributed team that cares about working joyfully and making a difference in the world. We work hard at building an amazing product, and just as hard to create a culture of empathy, trust, and purpose. We use our app the way it was intended, to keep close by chatting and sharing moments of joy, empathy, and love. From hockey games with the kids to cats purring on laptops, we get to see and learn so much more about each other than we would through typical “water cooler” conversations.
On your own time Life is busy. Marco Polo works when you have a moment to talk, even if your schedules don’t match. Unlike other video apps, you don’t need to be live. For close relationships With people you love, texts and social media don’t give you the whole picture and calls are hard to schedule. Have spontaneous face-to-face conversations and really see how your loved ones are doing.
Be together with groups Gather friends and family, chat with your support or hobby group, collaborate with co-workers or fantasy football teammates. Each person can watch and respond when it works for them. Easy and fun Speaking face to face is as easy as pressing “Start” and “Stop”. Have fun with doodles and voice filters, too!
Vlada began her journey at Northwestern University majoring in computer engineering and art. She went to launch a successful software career with more than 15 years of experience as an engineer, product manager, and designer; building mass-impact products such as MSN Messenger and Hotmail. With Marco Polo she is building an antidote for typical social media and using technology to spotlight authentic connection, communication, and emotional well-being.
The distance doesn’t slow us down. We keep the engine humming from our homes, co-working spaces, and coffee shops—connecting with daily Zoom calls, and retreats.
