Solid company with room for improvement

Positive outlook

Pros

The company stands out for its numerous social events, fostering a sense of camaraderie among colleagues. Additionally, the emphasis on Learning and Development (L&D) training programs and knowledge-sharing sessions creates a conducive learning environment, particularly beneficial for junior professionals seeking growth. The exposure to ASX 100 companies and a diverse range of projects provides valuable experience, offering professionals a chance to broaden their skill set.

Cons

In my experience at this company, I found the pay to be below average, especially considering the long working hours, including weekends, dictated by individual partner requirements. The close-door policy and a communication style that prioritises hierarchy over an eye-level approach create a less-than-ideal professional atmosphere. Transparency regarding the overall business strategy is lacking, contributing to a cutthroat mentality when it comes to performance expectations and project deliveries. The firm exhibits a conservative risk approach, fostering an adverse environment with a strong emphasis on KPIs and revenue targets—typical for an accounting firm—while lacking innovation and a growth mindset. While many colleagues are talented, the organisation’s top-heavy structure breeds internal politics and opaque decision-making processes that hinder individuals from reaching their full potential. The turnover on the junior to mid senior level is higher than expected, and despite the company's promotion of diversity, individuals often feel constrained to fit a predefined mold to be able to succeed.
