Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging at NRC Health

At NRC Health, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging are essential to our mission as a company devoted to greater Human Understanding. We believe each associate and applicant should feel understood and welcomed.

  • We believe living Human Understanding in the workplace is the job of every associate. Each associate is asked to take charge of their own education, self-awareness, opportunity, and growth in the topics of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
  • All leaders are expected to support associates in development efforts and be role models in inclusive behavior, leading their teams with Human Understanding.
  • The Associate Experience team and Associate Lifecycle Belonging committee coordinate activities and opportunities for everyone on these topics, and act as advocates of a workplace culture full of Human Understanding.

As we focus on Human Understanding in the workplace, we have considered what creating and cultivating a workplace full of Human Understanding means. We have realized that demonstrating Human Understanding as associates is so much larger than just honoring and recognizing personal characteristics such as race, age, gender, marital status, background, or creed. Our passions, pastimes, families, pets, politics, and communities impact how we see the world. This in turn impacts how we understand or misunderstand one another. We acknowledge that our efforts will be ongoing and must continually be re-evaluated.

This is Human Understanding at work.

Our Associates

Our associates...

Have Purpose – we do work that matters for our partners, the community, and the healthcare industry.

Innovate with us to move healthcare forward.

Give back to the community with paid volunteer time off.

Think Boldly – we have big ideas and are empowered to “think like an owner.”

Fit your role and do what you love.

Grow and develop along a career path designed by you.

Feel Connected – our favorite thing about our workday is each other.

Support one another – no one says, “That’s not my job.”

Celebrate with each other at beer:30, virtual events, and company gatherings.

Be Understood – we are each unique and want to live our best lives at work and home.

Let life happen with My Time Off, a form of unlimited vacation, and up to 12 weeks paid for parental and    emergency leave.

Live healthy with complimentary lifestyle and financial coaches, a wellness program, and a       comprehensive insurance plan.

Why do we call ourselves “associates?”

Our CEO, Mike Hays, is a firm believer that anyone can have an impact from his or her first day on the job.

We focus less on titles and more on the unique skills and perspectives each person brings to the organization.

So we aren’t just “employees” – we are proud associates.

Our Purpose
Human understanding

Everyone wants to be known.

No one wants to be numerated, classified, or reduced to a field on a form. No one wants to be segmented, stereotyped, or defined by a demographic. Each of us is unique, in ways immeasurable, and we are all ever changing.

In the midst of this evolving and endlessly complex human phenomenon, one need is universal: health.

No one wants to be ill. No one wants to feel pain, loss of ability, or loss of self. But each of us will know the ebb and flow of wellbeing in our lives.

When the time for care comes, each of us simply wants to be known, heard, and understood.

And that is the purpose of NRC Health: Human Understanding—enabling healthcare organizations to understand what matters most to each person they serve, and ease their journey.
