Cooperatives Build A Better World

At NRECA, we believe cooperatives build a better world and we are looking for talented people to join us.

We are a mission-driven organization with more than 700 employees supporting more than 900 private, consumer-owned electric cooperatives across the country.

More than just a trade association:

  • NRECA administers the health and retirement plans for more than 43,000 employees nationwide.
  • NRECA works with co-ops to bring electricity to communities across the globe.
  • NRECA advocates on behalf of our 42 million electric consumers from Alaska to Maine to Florida.
The Electric Cooperative Story

A Great Place to Work

We think NRECA is a great place to work — but don't just take our word for it, see what AARP, Northern Virginia Family Service, and Computerworld and Washingtonian magazines have to say:

  • NRECA's Lincoln Nebraska Headquarters has been honored by The Wellness Council of the Midlands (WELCOM) with the 'Gold Level 2014 Well Workplace Award,' for excellence in wellness promotion.
  • For ten straight years NRECA has been on Computerworld's "100 Best Places to Work in IT" list.
  • In 2009 and 2011, the Washingtonian included NRECA on the magazine's list of "Great Places to Work."
  • In 2013, Northern Virginia Family Service recognized NRECA for promoting a positive work-life balance with its eighth CARE Award.
  • AARP has included NRECA two years running on its list of "Best Employers for Workers Over 50."

Benefits

Competitive Benefits Package

At NRECA, we work to ensure our compensation and benefits plans are competitive. Here are some of the benefits that make NRECA a great place to work:

Holistic Wellness

NRECA cares about the total health and well-being our employees. This means creating opportunities for them to kick back together, or step up together. In addition to offering traditional health insurance benefits, NRECA hosts regular health screenings and fitness classes, offers free on-site gym access, regular Weight Watchers programs, and we have several health and weight loss programs available to employees through our benefits provider.

And total wellness isn't just about our bodies. NRECA also encourages financial wellness through a generous 401(K) and defined benefit pension plan, tuition assistance, commuter assistance, national discount programs and free personal investment counseling.

Work-life Balance

NRECA offers generous personal time off as well as 11 paid holidays to ensure employees have a healthy work-life balance. We also offer alternate work arrangements and other flexibilities to help employees feel personally and professionally fulfilled.

We are dedicated to providing opportunities for employees to get to know one another outside the office. We offer paid time off for volunteering and regularly take part in charitable and team-building activities together.

Community

Concern for Community

Concern for Community is one of the seven cooperative principles, and one to which NRECA is very dedicated. NRECA and its employees support various local, national and international charities including; matching contribution campaigns, "in-kind giving" drives for food, clothing, school supplies and blood. NRECA also promotes a variety of community service projects.

Serve Our Co-ops; Serve Our Country

Serve our Co-ops; Serve our Country is a nationwide initiative to honor and employ veterans, military service members, and their spouses. The program focuses on educating and training co-ops to implement nationally recognized leading practices in attracting, hiring, onboarding and retaining veterans. The second focus area of this program is to care for the veteran communities that live in suburban and rural areas.
