Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) is an organizational priority. Pace has built DEI values into existing policies and procedures, from anonymous initial candidate screenings to regular compensation benchmarking and multifaceted salary reviews to encouraging new ideas from employees at all levels within the organization.

Our open-door policy is real; leaders and managers encourage open conversations because they understand that open dialogue is at the center of progress, innovation and growth. This takes shape not only in informal channels but also formally with programs like Pace Champions, in which staff volunteers advise senior leadership on diversity issues and lead the implementation of solutions.

Lastly, Pace continues to grow and evolve and offers ongoing DEI training for all employees at regular intervals in partnership with Social Designs Consulting.

DEI in Action

• Pace Champions: Champions are part of the next phase of Pace’s DEI efforts, partnering closely with Pace’s training and development partner and Pace leadership. As ambassadors of Pace’s DEI efforts, volunteers for the Champion initiative educate, inform and influence Pace’s efforts to continuously improve the agency’s DEI plans.
• Recruitment: Pace is actively strengthening our relationships with historically Black colleges and universities, partnering with associations like The One Club for Creativity (a nonprofit that promotes inclusion, diversity and gender equality in the creative industry) and NC4ME (a veterans workforce nonprofit), and with our employees for additional ways we can source talented individuals from non-majority communities. Our corporate recruiter is a Certified Diversity and Inclusion Recruiter accredited by AIRS® ADP.
• Flexible Holidays: In addition to fixed holidays, Pacers can choose two additional holidays meaningful to them, whether religious, cultural or federal holidays.
  • Annual Giving: Pace donates 10% to 15% of profits to wide-reaching philanthropic causes every year ranging from the United Way to the International Civil Rights Center & Museum to the Ellis Island Medals of Honor. Pace also actively supports nonprofit partners with discounted and pro bono marketing services whenever possible.
  • Pace Impact Project: The Pace Impact Project partners Pacers with traditionally underrepresented business founders in the communities Pace calls home and provides them with pro bono social media marketing training and services. Selected businesses work alongside Pacers to create campaigns unique to each participating business and its needs.
  • Day of Service: Whether it’s volunteering at a local food bank or chaperoning a school field trip, there are multiple ways employees can use their Day of Service. The time can also be used in half days to spread out community involvement.
