ReadMe is on a mission to make documentation magical. We're changing the way people communicate and share, opening up new opportunities for innovation.
Pros
The tech industry is full of dozens of startups that tout "amazing culture". However you'll often quickly discover that the culture touted doesn't extend past the confines of the Careers page. ReadMe feels different. Greg has put a ton of care and energy into crafting a truly fun and engaging place to work—the whimsy advertised is the whimsy you actually get. - Semi-quarterly offsites are themed and often magical (quite literally...a recent one included a magician) - Some recent examples of Friday company-wide syncs include a "Marsh Madness" where we had a tournament to pick the best marsh animals and another where we each shared answers to "What's your mundane kryptonite in life?" - The San Francisco office has team lunches 2 days a week and regular after-hours team hangouts/events. We even recently took an impromptu excursion up to Santa Rosa to see owls at a bird sanctuary. Now sure, are there are still challenges and growing pains? Yes! You need to be a self-starter, comfortable with changing requirements, and okay with ambiguity at times. But many of these are not uncommon to similarly sized startups. If you're looking for a challenge, fun work culture, and a great team of people to work alongside, ReadMe is a great landing spot.Cons
-Product roadmap can sometimes change quickly and feel a little slow going. But this is improving with recent team restructuring and new hires. - There's a lot of existing tech debt that we've recently started to finally chip away at (this could be a pro or con depending on what you're looking for!). - Career progression paths and leveling are still being defined. - If you're not onboard with whimsy and/or lean more cynical, you may not love the culture here.
