Pros

I have not been at RR very long, but I am loving it so far. Very happy to be apart of a company that gave me a chance to succeed in sales. Love my team, my trainer is amazing and really feel like I’m getting the tools to succeed.

Cons

Honestly none. Sometimes the call count can seem kind of hard, but when I focus I can easily go further than the required KPIs.

Our Mission:  To foster, sustain, and promote a diverse and inclusive culture where employees can be their authentic selves to develop innovative solutions that improve RoadRunner’s company culture, customer experience, and surrounding communities.

At RoadRunner Recycling, diversity, equity and inclusion are integral to who we are. Together, we strive to build an inclusive culture that encourages, supports and celebrates the diverse backgrounds, where all members of the RoadRunner community feel welcomed, valued, and respected and are empowered to celebrate and cultivate their differences to maximize their fullest potential experiences of our employees. We believe this is what drives innovation and brings us closer to the customers and communities we serve.

Our Story

In 2014, our founder, Graham Rihn, believed there had to be a better way to improve the outdated, expensive and inefficient process of commercial recycling and waste management - And from this belief, RoadRunner was born.

A message from our CEO:

"There has to be a better way. We all want something better. A better way to store files, a better way to run payroll, a better way to find a ride home. These moments of wanting something better inspire or fulfill big ideas and transformational products. My desire for “a better way” involves recycling.

After spending five years in the industry, I developed an understanding of how the waste and recycling systems operated first-hand. It dawned on me that the “better way” comes down to logistics. By cutting costs and steps from the process of transporting materials to the right place in the right form, the materials can be recycled at a cost that is actually lower than their value.

I started RoadRunner to build a company solely focused on making waste and recycling massively more efficient. My vision for “a better way” starts and ends with logistics. We are heavily investing our time and resources in reinventing the process of recycling materials from the source (the business) to where they are sold, repurposed, or recycled.

By innovating around the concept of hauling, RoadRunner uses more cost-effective, data-driven logistics to lower customer expenses, create revenue with recyclables, and achieve client sustainability goals all at the same time."

Core Values

We live out our core values every day and they have shaped a fun, enthusiastic, and motivated team.

  • Trust - Trust is critical to building a strong foundation. Whether it’s ensuring we’re a reliable partner to our customers, or trusting in our teammates, this value helps us bridge gaps and guarantee a tenacious & collaborative spirit in all we do.
  • Care personally about each other - Everyone at RoadRunner comes with a different set of life & career experiences. We strongly believe that it’s the diversity in perspectives and backgrounds that encourage innovation and teamwork. Great achievements from great teams are only possible when team members care personally about one another.
  • Passion - Passion is the cornerstone of motivation and helps encourage us to surpass our goals. While recycling is a passion for RoadRunner, individual passions are also important to help inspire us to reach new heights both professionally & personally.
  • Embrace challenge - Each day brings with it a new set of challenges and, as part of the RoadRunner
team, we must embrace them. By appreciating every obstacle and reframing it as an opportunity to learn, we can all grow stronger as a team and as a company.
  • Humility - “Work hard, stay humble” might be a common phrase across motivational posters, but that’s because it’s the truth. No matter how much we grow, we must always remain modest in order to receive feedback, see things from a new perspective, and challenge ourselves to evolve.
  • Accountability - Accountability is a requirement for any individual at RoadRunner no matter the level at which you work. When we each take responsibility for our successes and failures, we always come out stronger on the other side with an awareness of how to do better.

We put these into action through our town halls, DE&I Committee, Virtual and in-person celebrations, and peer-to-peer recognition. Our employees agree and we've been awarded both a Pittsburgh and Phoenix Best Places to Work in 2021 and 2022!

Our Company Culture

RoadRunner’s unique company culture is inextricably linked to our overall success—a belief carried from the actions of the CEO to the values we seek in hiring. Our team-oriented environment results in a workplace where decisions are transparent, communication is open, and employees care personally about leaning in or lending a hand.

Above all else, RoadRunners are real people. We celebrate individuality and embrace what makes us different. And faced with everyday hurdles and unexpected challenges—in work and in life—we collectively walk the path toward positivity and growth.
