Cons

It's hard for me to see the negatives with such a great company. Some see the travel as a con, but for us that has been an exciting part.

Equity, diversity and inclusion are important parts of Robins & Morton’s identity, ingrained in our values. We believe that attracting and engaging people from different backgrounds will bring perspectives that enrich our culture, enhance our work and make us stronger as an organization.

Who We Are

Founded in 1946, Robins & Morton is a privately held construction firm committed to exceeding the expectations of our clients and people. Dedication to our core values – Integrity, Safety, Client Focused and Excellence –coupled with a focus on innovation, enables us to attract and retain the best people, which sustains our position as leader in the construction industry. In the past ten years alone, we have completed nearly $10 billion in projects throughout the country. These projects vary from major new hospitals and complex renovations, to hospitality projects and a variety of other commercial work.

Our Building With Purpose® commitment is our shared promise to deliver exceptional results on every project, making a lasting, positive impact on our clients, communities, people, business partners and our industry through the things we build and do.

Our History

Robins & Morton was founded in 1946 by Todd Robins. Known then as Robins Engineering, the company’s first project was an 800-square-foot gas station on the east side of Birmingham, Alabama. From there, Robins Engineering went on to focus on the engineering, design, and construction of steel mills across the South and Midwest in its first 20 years of business. Over the more than 55 years to come, Robins Engineering would change its name to Robins & Morton and become one of the top healthcare construction firms in the country. View our timeline here.

Our Culture

At Robins & Morton, our culture sets us apart as a place to pursue your career in construction. We continue to evolve, developing new and better ways in every aspect of the construction industry, but our values and guiding principles remain the same. These values define who we are and lay the foundation for the promises we make to our people, clients trade contractors, and communities, including being reliable both on and off the jobsite. The combination of our Building With Purpose® commitment and our Building Forward® approach serves as the foundation for our company’s unique culture, focused on caring for our people, clients, project team partners, and our communities.

BUILDING WITH PURPOSE® COMMITMENT

Building With Purpose® is our shared commitment to deliver exceptional results on every project, making a lasting, positive impact on our clients, communities, people, business partners and our industry through the things we build and do.

BUILDING FORWARD® APPROACH

Our Building Forward® approach brings Robins & Morton’s culture of caring about our clients, team members, trade contractors and communities to the forefront in every aspect of our company, holding us accountable to carry that culture forward. Building Forward’s guiding tenets–Collaboration, Continuous Improvement, Leadership Development and Creating a Learning Culture–and the integration of Lean tools and practices reinforce our Values and drive us to become better in everything we do. Building Forward engages and empowers individuals at every level, fosters inclusion, promotes sustainability and embraces innovation.

DIVERSITY, INCLUSION AND EQUITY

Diversity, inclusion and equity are important parts of Robins & Morton identity, ingrained in our values, goals and achievements. We believe that attracting and engaging people from different backgrounds will bring distinctive perspectives that enrich our culture, enhance our work and make us a stronger as an organization.

To actively advance diversity, equity and inclusion within our company, we founded the Robins & Morton Family Table. Our Family Table is based on the belief that the best way to recognize and understand our differences and support understanding is to start with what most unites our team members: our company’s family-like culture. The Family Table represents our ongoing commitment to celebrate diversity and inclusion within our company while creating a safe space for our team members to address any “uncomfortable silences.” To ensure that the Family Table stays true to our culture and values while focusing on what is important to our people, its efforts are guided by a team of facilitators drawn from across the company. They represent the different positions, backgrounds, cultures, races, genders and family roles within our organization.  Following a model of continuous improvement, the facilitators are developing and refining initiatives — including training, recruitment and retention efforts — to promote diversity, inclusion and equity.

Internships

For the past 40 years, Robins & Morton has successfully recruited the best and brightest students from all over the country to join our Co-Op/Internship Program. Our program allows students to gain hands-on experience and knowledge, as well as build relationships, that will last a lifetime.

Co-ops/Interns are placed in the Southeast region to provide support to our project teams or one of our Robins & Morton offices.
