Pros
Skylight has given me the opportunity to develop and grow in my career in a way that I didn't expect when I joined the company. I've developed skill sets far outside of my core job responsibilities and am encouraged to continually learn. The entire company is exceptionally friendly and pleasant to work with. The leadership team is approachable, kind and transparent. Teams continually look for process improvements and feedback is always requested from leadership on a regular basis. A collaborative, respectful culture, where everyone’s opinion is valued, is cultivated at Skylight. The employees are young and entrepreneurial. Everyone regardless of your experience is given a wide range of autonomy. You are empowered to become the company subject matter expert in your daily line of work, and will be given opportunities and recognition for your work when you are successful. There’s an office in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Employees are encouraged to go into the office Tuesday/Thursday (if you live in the area) to collaborate and work alongside each other. Company offers weekly team lunch reimbursement. The company gets together weekly for an open and transparent all-hands and meets in person quarterly for team bonding and strategic planning sessions. The company also organizes virtual happy hours, bi-weekly donuts (meetings) to interact with coworkers, and social slack channels such as foodie, music, book club, women's financial literacy etc. The company really cares about their customers and employees. The customer is at the forefront of every company decision. Employees’ ideas are always heard and respected. The company is also really generous and on numerous occasions have donated to various charitable organizations.Cons
Holidays can be busy given the small size of the company, that being said, the company gives us the first Friday off every month for employee wellness in addition to public holidays, holiday shutdowns (timing depends on department) and unlimited PTO. Management has received feedback about employees being meeting heavy so they have recently implemented no-meeting Wednesdays!
