Slack is a cloud-based team communication platform developed by Slack Technologies, now under the ownership of Salesforce since 2020. Designed primarily as a business-to-business service, Slack is widely used by team-based businesses to enhance their communication and business administration functionalities. In recent leadership changes, Salesforce announced on December 5, 2022, that Stewart Butterfield would be stepping down as Slack's CEO, succeeded by Lidiane Jones. Does Slack Offer Remote Work?

As the prospect of a quick recovery from the coronavirus pandemic dwindled, Slack embraced a remote-first approach to reimagine how work is conducted. Recognizing that effective remote work requires more than merely replicating office processes at home, Slack announced that employees could work from home through June 2021, with offices remaining closed until conditions are safe. The company has permanently shifted its hiring policies to welcome remote candidates for most new roles, allowing current employees the option to work remotely indefinitely.

PROS: The pay is solid. The company is large enough that it cares about DEI and acts on it. Quality of life varies between managers. CONS: It’s possible to be in a position where a manager can make your life difficult. I also found moving teams at slack fairly difficult, it felt as difficult as applying for a whole new job. It seems like the culture changed a bit after the layoffs. Quality of life highly depends on team.
