Pros
Lots of talented people on the newsroom side producing great stories and innovative content. Most positions seem to pay above market rate but lack of salary transparency makes that difficult to confirm. Flexible schedule and unlimited PTO if you can find the time to take advantage.Cons
During the hiring process they promise a great culture that includes collaboration, inclusion, and doing what is right. There is little to no collaboration on the business side. Those departments are pressured into only caring about their personal results because of competitive goals, commissions, and bonuses that are driven from the top. Non-revenue generating departments on the business side have been purposely underresourced since day one. You are encouraged to speak your mind and ask questions, but when you do, if you're not towing the party line and drinking the kool-aid then you will be seen as a problem by executive leadership and you won't be able to change their minds. I definitely experienced the organization doing more wrong than right. A combination of firing, layoffs, and voluntary departures has added up to a high turnover rate, especially on the business side.
