- Adequate research support - Good colleagues - A 6-month sabbatical is offered for every 3 years of employment - Great access to nature - Very diverse community

Cons

- The university is very top heavy as decisions are made from the center and imposed upon the community. There is very little, if any, real consultation with academics. - Ethics process is onerous as it is geared towards first legally protecting the university against any circumstances that could get it into trouble. This impedes research and has led to the departure of many top-level researchers. - The cost of living in Auckland is exceedingly high, and the housing market is predatory. - They eliminated the tuition parks for family members
