Great people & mission; not without its growing pains
Pros
The people at Watershed are kind, collaborative, smart, and quite humble. The mission balances altruism <> pragmatism quite well Exciting longterm vision/strategy, with ambitions to be a generational business. Growth has been compelling - strategic and balanced. Customers have consistent positive feedback with regards to Watershed's product and service offerings. You learn a TON. If you're hungry to learn what it's like to exist in the tech / fast paced startup / climate space, there's no better place to be. Lots of room for an exciting scale of impact, while also setting yourself up for consistent future success.Cons
As with most early-stage startups, there are some growing pains that are populating more frequently as of late. Leadership appears to be committed to not over-inflating staffing, as to avoid the need to go through redundancies (if times got tough). This has led to a bit of a load balancing concern, with folks feeling stretched thin. Help appears to be on the way though, with some lofty headcount growth goals this year. The future of climate tech is an uncertain one, which makes it necessary to adapt to market needs, even midway through a fiscal year. When we're moving at breakneck speeds, these pivots sometimes cause significant whiplash amongst the employee base. Be mindful of this ambiguity that you will exist in when you join a company that's truly trying to build something generational and not following the coattails of what others have done before. There's a high talent bar, but also a high level of trust in your abilities to get things done once you're behind the scenes. Working schedules don't always follow a fixed formula, especially with an internationally distributed team, so be sure to create an appropriate work life balance. For folks who've been in startup or other high-octane worlds before, the above might feel familiar.
