You’ll quickly discover that Yuma is a welcoming, family-oriented community that offers an excellent quality of life. First of all, there’s our weather — we are officially the sunniest city on Earth because we average about 350 days of sunshine each year. Yes, it can get a bit warm in the summer, but the beautiful weather we enjoy the rest of the year more than makes up for it. Our “coldest” month is January when our average high is a very comfortable 68 degrees. So it’s easy to see why our year-round population is over 200,000 and increases to nearly 300,000 when our winter visitors arrive each year.
Our community offers so much to see and do. We have great schools, dozens of city parks and playgrounds and plenty of great places to enjoy outdoor activities like biking, golf, hiking, camping, hunting, fishing and off-roading. Plus, thanks to our convenient location on the banks of the Colorado River, it’s easy to enjoy water sports like tubing, kayaking and boating. And Mexico’s beautiful Sea of Cortez, which was called “The World’s Aquarium” by legendary explorer Jacques Cousteau, begins just 60 miles south of Yuma. When you’re ready for a road trip, Phoenix and San Diego are just 180 miles away, and Tucson, Las Vegas, Palm Springs and Los Angeles are all located within a radius of just over 300 miles.
One comment we often hear is how friendly our city is. In fact, we’ve been called “the best kept secret in the Southwest.” We invite you to experience all Yuma has to offer by becoming a valued member of the Yuma Regional Medical Center team. You’ll be glad you found your place in the sun!
