Zoox was founded to make personal transportation safer, cleaner, and more enjoyable—for everyone. To achieve that goal, the team created a whole new form of transportation. Zoox will provide mobility-as-a-service in dense urban environments.

Zoox was founded with one clear goal: to reimagine transportation from the ground up. And that mission drives everything we do. Our goal is to improve safety, mobility, and sustainability by applying the latest techniques in automotive, robotics, AI, and renewable energy to build a vehicle that addresses the unique challenges of autonomous mobility.
In 2020, we joined forces with Amazon as an independent subsidiary. It’s a partnership that enables Zoox to bring our mission to life. At the same time, we’ve kept our small-company feel. One team, working on one problem, with the resources to make it happen.
Zoox is a great place to work for many reasons. It starts with a mission that drives everything we do–and shapes how we do it. At Zoox, you’ll find a creative, collaborative environment where great ideas thrive, and where everyone is driven by the same big purpose.
We look after our crew because it’s the right thing to do. It’s also what enables them to do their best work. Our crew’s health and happiness is our first priority. We invest in our crew–and their families–for the long term. That includes generous family planning support, caregiver support, and strong cash compensation with great equity upside.
There’s a busy calendar of events at Zoox, with more sports teams than you can count. And, of course, playing with robots is an important part of the job.
Zoox will handle the traffic, while riders enjoy a smooth relaxing ride in a spacious cabin. Each rider gets the same comfort, space and technology.
From the outset we had a very clear understanding of the design vision: to deliver a short, highly maneuverable vehicle optimized for operation in congested megacities, while providing an enjoyable passenger environment.
Autonomous mobility will provide a paradigm shift in safety - from reactive to proactive. Safety isn’t just a part of what we do. It’s why we’re here. Our purpose-built autonomous vehicle includes more than 100 safety innovations that do not exist in today’s conventional cars. Every part of Zoox is designed to keep you safe—whether you’re riding with us or not.
We are developing all core software modules in-house. These include perception, planning, calibration, localization, mapping, simulation, teleoperation, fleet management, the mobile application, and other supporting tools. This creates an exciting but complex challenge that requires tight, cross-functional collaboration. As a software engineer at Zoox, you will collaborate with a team of world-class engineers with diverse backgrounds.
Zoox can successfully navigate complex scenarios including six-way intersections, tunnels (no GPS), high on-ramps, steep hills, rain, night conditions, narrow roads, crowds of pedestrians, cyclists, and unprotected turns and cross-traffic. We’ve also demonstrated that our software stack is scalable to other cities (e.g., Las Vegas, San Francisco) and driving environments (e.g., highways, suburbs).
Our vehicles can navigate the vast majority of scenarios they encounter without any human intervention. In the rare cases they can’t, they engage TeleGuidance.
