Job Description:
Would you like the opportunity to work with exciting employees in the Plant Program Area - Native Plant Conservation Program? If so, the Plant Protection and Conservation Program area is currently recruiting for a Laborer (Bio-control Technician) position.
What you’ll be doing
As a Laborer (Bio-control Technician) you will assist with implemental of ODA’s and Bio-control program for the noxious weeds control. You will also survey the field sites and gather data that supports the establishment or maintenance of the Bio-control agents for selected noxious weeds species. In addition, you will coordinate with distribution of insects with the area. This position also assists ODA’s Insect Pest Prevention and Management program (IPPM). Work performed with the IPPM program may include the setting or retrieval of insect traps from various public and private properties in northeast Oregon; recording and submitting trap data and insect counts and coordinating with cooperators and/or landowners.
Our Laborer (Bio-control Technician) will be a Limited Duration full-time position, located within the La Grande, Union, Baker counties area. Office work will be performed remotely from a home.

Experience or course work in plants, general botany, biology, or physiology.
Additional Requirement
Occasionally works long hours, mostly works out of doors, sometimes in inclement weather.
May drives long distances.
Requires hiking in rugged terrain and may include operation of off-road vehicles.
Requires collection of insects for biological control.
Occasional exposure or proximity to chemical herbicides.
May have some overnight travel required.
