As a Laborer, you will assist in weighing samples, record weights, and perform special tests as required (i.e. gravity, internal, fry color determination, bruise). You may also operate equipment such as lift-truck, conveyors, panel view, and/or other equipment.
We are recruiting to fill multiple Laborer positions, these are seasonal positions with an approximate end date of November 30, 2023. We may use this recruitment to fill temporary vacancies in the future, the location will be in Hermiston Oregon, this is a classified represented position with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

Oregon Department of Agriculture (
ODA
), we ensure healthy natural resources, environment, and economy for Oregonians now and in the future through inspection and certification, regulation, and promotion of agriculture and food. As a member of the ODA team, you will help provide an accurate, unbiased inspection of fruits and vegetables, phytosanitary certification, shipping point inspection, third party grading of raw product for processing and export certification and licenses-controlled atmosphere storage facilities for factors affecting the marketability and export of fresh and processed fruits, vegetables and nuts for the fresh and processing industry and consuming public.

Working conditions
Frequently exposed to warm and cold temperatures and wet, noisy work environment.
Workstation might be in close proximity to machinery and equipment and other potentially hazardous equipment.
May be required to lift heavy objects, up to a maximum of approximately 50 pounds
Prolonged standing, bending, stooping, walking.
Position may include unusual or extended work ranging from 2 to 14 hours per day, up to seven days a week.
