Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Team Lead – Data Engineering to join our Technology Department. In this role, you will lead a dynamic team of data engineers in designing, building, and managing a modern, scalable data infrastructure capable of processing and storing petabytes of data. This is a unique opportunity for a technical leader passionate about data, cloud technologies, and driving the development of innovative, future-proof data systems. 

As the Team Lead, you will not only provide leadership but also play a hands-on role in defining and developing technical specifications and designs for complex data systems. Your expertise will be crucial in redesigning our data warehouse and data processing pipelines to ensure scalability, efficiency, and security. Leveraging modern cloud tools and best practices, you will deliver cutting-edge data solutions that enable the seamless processing of structured and unstructured data. 

In this role, you will collaborate closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements, ensuring that your team’s work aligns with strategic objectives. Your contributions will establish the foundation for business intelligence, advanced analytics, and data-driven decision-making at scale. 

 
Key Responsibilities

• Leadership & Team Management: Lead and mentor data engineers, manage project timelines, and ensure high-quality delivery of data solutions. 
• System Design & Architecture: Define and develop technical specifications, system designs, and scalable architectures for large-scale data infrastructure. 
• Data Infrastructure & Cloud Solutions: Redesign and manage scalable data warehouses and processing systems using AWS services (Athena, Glue, Redshift). 
• Pipeline Development: Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines to process large, diverse datasets with a focus on performance and reliability. 
• Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Work with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver robust data solutions for analytics and business intelligence. 
• Automation & CI/CD: Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD practices to automate and streamline deployment processes. 
• Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot data systems to ensure reliability and efficiency. 
• Data Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain data security, privacy standards, and compliance with regulations. 

Qualifications:

• Leadership & Team Management: Proven experience leading and mentoring data engineering team, with a strong track record of managing project timelines and delivering complex data solutions. 
• Strategic Thinking: Ability to define and drive data engineering strategies, aligning technical initiatives with organizational goals. 
• Data Engineering Expertise: Minimum 5 years of experience designing, building, and managing large-scale data infrastructure, with a focus on scalability, performance, and security. 
• Programming Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Java and Python for ETL development, data manipulation, and system automation. 
• Data Warehouse & OLAP Solutions: Extensive experience with OLAP databases (e.g., Amazon Redshift, ClickHouse) and designing data models for large-scale analytics. 
• Transactional Databases: Strong understanding of OLTP systems, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and SQL Server, for operational workloads. 
• Stream Data Processing: Expertise with real-time data streaming platforms like Apache Kafka and AWS Kinesis, and designing low-latency pipelines. 
• Cloud Data Engineering: In-depth knowledge of AWS tools (Athena, Glue, S3) and cloud-based data architectures for processing and storage at scale. 
• ETL/ELT Development: Proven ability to design, build, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using tools like Apache Airflow, DBT, and Apache NiFi for both batch and real-time processing. 
• IaC: Strong understanding of DevOps principles and experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform. 
• Data Security & Compliance: Expertise in implementing data privacy standards (e.g., GDPR), data security protocols, and IAM systems like AWS IAM or Active Directory. 
• Performance Optimization: Demonstrated ability to optimize query performance, data processing pipelines, and data systems for high availability and low latency. 
• Communication & Stakeholder Management: Strong communication skills with experience presenting technical designs and strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
• Collaboration Skills: Proven ability to work cross-functionally, aligning data engineering efforts with business needs and strategic goals.
