Supply Chain & Operations Internship
As a Supply Chain & Operations Intern, you will get broad exposure to our Supply Chain organization and leadership team. Our interns gain invaluable job experience, career development and leadership opportunities. You will receive both technical and leadership training to enhance your skill set. Interns work with cross-functional teams to drive performance improvements and receive a great introduction to our collaborative, fun and engaging culture. You will be given the opportunity to own and work on a functional project through the summer that will be presented to company leadership.
Internships are available at our headquarters location in Arden Hills, MN. We offer our interns a competitive wage, paid relocation, and a summer housing stipend.
Areas of Internship Opportunities
LOGISTICS
Driven by customer demands, the Land O Lakes Logistics team creates value by effectively managing the transformation of raw materials into safe, quality, finished products, and by coordinating complex planning and distribution to ensure that products are delivered when and where the customer desires. Logistics does this by leveraging our integrated planning, sourcing, manufacturing, warehousing and shipping functions. Logistics also operates a large fleet of trucks and over 100 warehouses and distribution centers.

Analyze and create a least cost ingredient strategy
Reduce age risk in short shelf-life projects
QUALITY
Quality is foundational to Land O’Lakes and is a core value to all aspects of our company. ENGINEERING
Engineering provides essential capabilities for ongoing sustainability and growth of our key Land O Lakes businesses. The engineering team manages over two hundred million per year in capital projects that support new business commercialization and manufacturing improvements in areas of plant infrastructure, quality, safety, efficiency and sustainability. The team strives to provide industry-leading technical services that support business objectives, while driving reliable operational effectiveness and cost competitiveness in addition to highest quality, safety and environmental compliance.

Analyze and create a recommendation to reduce decibel levels of equipment to safe levels
Develop an economic model to analyze if and when to replace an asset
SOURCING & INGREDIENT MERCHANDISING
Overseeing eleven billion in annual transactions, the Ingredient Merchandising and Sourcing team works with thousands of suppliers worldwide. Ingredient Merchandising and Sourcing purchases every product, service or ingredient needed to bring the company's diverse portfolio of agriculture, feed and dairy foods products to market ranging from stainless steel to soybean meal. The team also buys and sells ingredients and raw milk to balance the company's needs and generate revenue. Land O’Lakes businesses rely on the Sourcing and Ingredient Merchandising teams to be the experts in the global markets for raw materials. Using this information, Land O’Lakes Sourcing provides risk management solution with futures and options strategies to mitigate margin volatility for our businesses.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH and SAFETY
Environment, Health and Safety, also known as EHS, works with each Business unit to ensure compliance with all applicable EPA, OSHA and DOT regulations. In addition, we work with each business unit on risk management. Risks in the form of employee injuries, environmental spills or releases, bad press regarding environmental sustainability, etc.

Supply Chain & Operations Internship – Manufacturing Operations
At the hub of Supply Chain and Operations organization, the manufacturing team at Land O Lakes is the critical link to safely producing the highest quality dairy food products for consumers, crop protection and crop input products, and lifestyle and livestock feed for animals. This team has tremendous influence over all the levers that impact the company’s bottom line including employee safety, product quality and safety, labor productivity, line efficiency, and material yield. Our manufacturing team operates 85 facilities nationwide.
Internships are available in our manufacturing facilities throughout the United States. We offer our interns a competitive hourly wage, paid relocation, and a competitive housing stipend.
Purina Animal Nutrition & Dairy Foods Manufacturing Operations Internships
As a Manufacturing Operations intern, you will get broad exposure to our Supply Chain organization and leadership team. Our interns gain invaluable job experience, career development and leadership opportunities. You will receive both technical and leadership training to enhance your skill set. Interns work with cross-functional teams to drive performance improvements and receive a great introduction to our collaborative, fun and engaging culture.
Manufacturing Operations Interns will have the opportunity to work closely with a manufacturing team of production, quality, maintenance supervisors and managers in a high-paced manufacturing environment. You will be placed in either a Purina Animal Nutrition facility or within a Dairy Foods facility. You will also work closely with production team members on the production floor. Interns can expect to focus their time on initiatives to improve safety, quality, productivity, asset reliability and much more.
Interns will identify, work on, and present a project that will benefit you as well as the plant facility and our organization. Here are a few examples of previous projects that interns have chosen:
Analyze and correct root cause of production downtime
Improve operational efficiency on a production line
Identify and create recommendations to minimize waste on a production line
General Qualifications
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, operations, food science, animal science, agriculture, or related fields of study
Demonstrated leadership in school/academic/industry related clubs
Ability to relocate during May – August 2022 timeframe
Previous experience within the general production and plant manufacturing environment is preferred but not required
Professional Qualifications

Physical Qualifications
Walking, standing, and engaging in movement throughout the day,
Occasionally to frequently be required to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
Due to a large variety of job duties (both routine and non-routine), certain duties also may involve, a variety of physical activities which include
bending, lifting, stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, and pulling
raising arms above shoulders and head
working in enclosed areas
climbing stairs or ladders
The noise level in the work environment can vary but noise is usually low to moderate
Depending on where you are working on in the plant, you may be required to wear personal protective equipment which includes:
safety glasses, safety gloves, hearing protection, a respirator or dust mask, protective footwear, protective clothing or uniforms.
Work may be performed in cold and/or hot temperatures and the environment can be dusty
Work may need to be performed during non-standard hours, including nights and weekends. At times, the ability to work overtime also may be required
General Qualifications
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master's degree in supply chain operations, business/agriculture business, economics, food science, animal science, engineering, agriculture, or related fields of study
Minimum 3.0 G.P.A.
Demonstrated leadership in school/academic/industry related clubs
Ability to relocate to internship location during May – August 2023 timeframe
